Social security benefits are typically paid a little earlier than expected when they fall on or near to a bank holiday, with Easter being no exception.

The UK Government has released information showing when you can expect to receive payments for Universal Credit, Tax Credits, and Child Benefit over Easter (2019).

Universal Credit

Payments expected on Friday 19 April 2019 should arrive in your bank account on Thursday 18 April 2019.

Payments expected on Monday 22 April 2019 should be paid on Thursday 18 April 2019.

Tax Credits

Payments due on Friday 19 April 2019 should be paid on Thursday 18 April 2019.

Payments due on Monday 22 April 2019 should instead be paid on Thursday 18 April 2019.

Child Benefit

Payments due on Monday 22 April 2019 should arrive in your bank account no later than Thursday 18 April 2019.

Other Benefits

According to the gov.uk website, if your payment date is on a weekend or a bank holiday you’ll usually be paid on the last working day before the due date.

At the time of publishing this article, the Government had not yet updated its website to show Easter payment dates for other state benefits (eg. Jobseeker’s Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, etc).

Late Payments

If you do not receive payment by the dates listed above it is recommended to first contact your bank, in case there is a problem with the payment being processed, and then contact HMRC on 0345 300 3900.

Note: The Universal Credit helpline is closed on bank holidays. Try the number above instead.
