I’m 60 [years of age] and was sent to Pinnacle People in Brixton by my JobCentre advisor.
I was then referred to a 6-month Mandatory Work Activity at [the] Positive Network Centre in Mitcham, South London.
The work isn’t particularly demanding. They could have sent me to shovel s*** at the stables in StHelier or chugging for a fake charity in Tottenham, which is where a lot of the other people were sent, but it’s a pointless exercise in time-wasting.
I used to spend my time productively composing music in my home studio but apparently that’s not good enough for them.
I’m now into the second month of my 6-month placement and all it’s done is disrupt my life and make me put everything on hold.
I tried to discuss the pointlessness of it with my JobCentre advisor and the people at G4S / Pinnacle Brixton, but was threatened with being sanctioned if I didn’t put up and shut up.
It’s very depressing.
