Dear Labour Party,
Disabled people in this country are being severely harmed by this government. I know many in the Labour Party have been staunch supporters of disabled people, but apparently powerless to prevent the damage metered out by this government on people with disabilities.
The Tories use the phrase ‘The Welfare Party’ to beat you with, but isn’t it about time you put your Tin Hat and Flak Jacket on, poked it above the parapet and find the courage to say “YES, we are supportive of the poorest”, while listing your achievements since the Welfare State was created; stopping the government in their tracks, while pointing out their failures to support the poorest in society. Be proud of it, rather than cower in the corner like scolded children who dare not open their mouths to speak out.
And it’s also about time Labour apologised to disabled people for the mess they started on Welfare Reform.
Don’t be so complacent in attacking government policy… and stop being so darned polite! I wished at times I could hold PMQ’s myself, because I would remind the government of its failures in no uncertain terms. I know Jeremy [Corbyn] and the team are good people, but isn’t it about time Labour gave the government a good drubbing?
People are dying, starving, and unable to find work. And our NHS is hanging on by the skin of its teeth, along with social housing.
We need ‘people over profit’ at the heart of society, not greed. We need compassion, not hatred’.. as it’s become survival of the fittest. The last man standing may well be alone in a desolate place after destroying everything we hold dear because they want it. Fancy giving me a shot at the dispatch box?
The poorest people in society cannot wait till 2020 for something to change, it has to start to change now! I’m nearly 60 years old. Younger woman I have spoken to have never seen experienced such hardship as they do now. The government preaches about “social responsibility”, isn’t it about time we saw some in Westminster too?
Sniping within is damaging the party. Perhaps it’s time for a spring clean in the Labour household? Sniping at other parties, and each other, means the Tories are often left unchallenged. Wouldn’t it be sensible to call a truce on all the attacks and unite to get rid of Tory maniacs, once and for all? After all, once they have gone you can get back to business as usual for the benefit of the whole country.
Remember, you work for us the people… not your party. It’s time to unite to remove the Tories from power before the cupboards are bare and there is nothing left to fight over, except the crumbs off the table or each other’s corpses.
Democracy cannot wait any longer. Come 2020 we will have fewer MP’s and a bigger battle to face. Dave and his mates will have robbed the house and emptied the cupboards, while everyone stood by watching them!
Many of us support your aims and goals and have done so for many years, but we can’t pay our bills or buy food, while we wait and hope for change in 2020. Disabled people need the Labour Party to work harder to hold the Tories to account. Not just for us, but our children and their children.
